Minnesota Masonic Histories & Mysteries Podcast
The Masonic Camp is honored to have been mentioned in Episode 105: 18:53 Working Tools Series: Eureka! of the Minnesota Masonic Histories & Mysteries Podcast, produced by Minnesota Masonic Charities.
In this episode, the hosts explore the life and legacy of Pythagoras—the man and the myth. A pioneer who first called himself a philosopher, Pythagoras spiritualized mathematics and believed that numbers form the foundation of all science and philosophy. He applied mathematical principles to geometry, music, and planetary movement. As the episode reflects, “We could think of Pythagoras as a model for modern Freemasons because crying ‘Eureka!’ suggests delight in the discovery of philosophical, moral, and scientific truths.”
The discussion also raises an intriguing question: Did our ancient friend and Brother truly invent the 47th Problem? Guest W∴ Br∴ Brad Phelps joins the conversation to unpack a thought-provoking article by C. Douglas Russell.
During the episode, W∴ Br∴ Phelps—our Grand Lodge Education Officer—speaks with host W∴ Br∴ Reed Endersbe and references The Masonic Camp after hearing a quotation from Webb's Freemason Monitor regarding the 47th Problem of Euclid. Reflecting on the discussion, he shared:
"You know, it’s funny—I had heard the vegetarian piece at Masonic Camp, and I was going to ask you if you knew about that, so it’s interesting that it’s brought up. Honestly, the thing that’s most striking is that I love hearing about this. I have a tendency to think about people who are smart, like Pythagoras, and think what it must be like to look inside their mind. Hearing about how the cosmos is constructed—the macrocosm and microcosm—you can almost see a conductor orchestrating the planets. I love the imagery of that. It’s mind-blowing. We take for granted things that are important, and I think what you’ve read is a good reminder of things we maybe take for granted.”
The Masonic Camp is grateful to have been mentioned in conversations that explore the philosophical and educational foundations of Freemasonry.

Since its inception in 2022, The Masonic Camp has captured the attention of the global Freemasonic community. Our unique approach to Masonic Education and Fellowship was, in part, inspired by Camp Masonry in Toledo, Ohio. We were inspired by the remarkable work being done by the brothers at Camp Masonry and sought to build relationships with the event organizers to help shape what would become The Masonic Camp.
The Blazing Star Masonic Camp in Queensland, Australia, was inspired by The Masonic Camp in Minnesota. In the beginning, and still today, the event adopts many elements from TMC, including the content of social media posts, an early version of the TMC square and compass campfire logo, and other aspects of the TMC program. While the group has not coordinated formally with TMC, it is still heartening to know that TMC has made an impact on Masonic events in Australia and has inspired a group of brothers to embrace and adapt the idea in their own way.
TMC organizers are more than happy to share our experiences and knowledge with others who wish to begin an event in their jurisdiction.
TMC was featured in The Ashlar (September 2022)
